Greetings,
As the seasons change, the German American Police Association reflects on a summer of camaraderie and a fall filled with tradition and milestones.
In July, members and their families came together for the annual picnic. Thanks to the dedication of Treasurer John Meindl, Director Art Oswald, Sergeant-at-Arms Tom Hartwig, and Dave Smart, the day was filled with raffles, regalia, ponies, inflatables, and activities that brought joy to all in attendance. The generosity of members and supporters helped make this gathering a memorable success.
In September, GAPA proudly participated in the Chicago German American Fest. Members, family, and friends first gathered for brunch at Laschet’s Inn before joining the parade, where we were honored to march alongside community organizations. We were especially grateful to our colleagues from Milwaukee GAPA who traveled to join us for the occasion.
Our general membership meeting resumed on September 9 at the DANK Haus, where our annual ethnic gathering with law enforcement partner associations provided another opportunity to strengthen fellowship and shared purpose.
This season also marks a historic milestone—the 50th Anniversary Oktoberfest Dinner Dance, held on October 3 at Elmcrest Banquets. This special evening celebrated five decades of friendship and tradition with dinner, music by Paloma, and the drawing of the 2025 Scholarship Awards, which continue to honor the legacy of fallen officers and provide support to students pursuing higher education.
Through these events, GAPA remains committed to fostering friendship, honoring tradition, and supporting one another as we move forward together.
